Drone Dock FAQs
How secure is a drone dock on a jobsite?
Each deployment of the drone dock will require specific site security measures, but commonly the dock will be bolted to a concrete pad or structure, have multiple security cameras monitoring it, and a perimeter security fence.
What does the drone dock need to operate?
The drone dock requires two things: Power and Internet
What if my jobsite does not have power or internet?
We have created solutions to provide power and internet connectivity even in the most remote locations.
Does an operator have to fly the drone each time?
No, the Dock Ops team completes an initial scan of the project which is then used to plan and execute automated missions. The result is a library of pre-planned flights that the drone can execute at any time.
Does the drone watch out for obstacles when flying autonomously?
Yes, the drone has omni-directional sensors that detect obstacles in real-time and will either brake or avoid the obstacle.
Can you live stream the drones video feed?
Yes! Watching the live video feed from the drone is as easy as scanning a QR code or inviting the drone to your video conference call.
Can the drone provide 24/7 security?
Although our drone docks are typically used for mapping and project management, we can partner with site security to provide drone coverage.
Is the drone safe to fly over people or vehicles?
Yes! All our docks are fitted with FAA certified parachute systems which are approved for flight operations over people and vehicles.
Who needs to obtain and hold all the required licenses?
Aerial Prospex will obtain all the necessary approvals, waivers, and licenses to operate a drone dock at your site.
What is included in the monthly fee for a dock?
To make the process as simple as possible, Aerial Prospex charges one monthly fee that covers: mobilization and demobilization of the dock, maintenance, operation of the dock, and the processing of deliverables.
What can reduce the costs of deploying a dock?
If the project or customer can provide power and internet to the dock, that helps reduce the monthly bill. Utilizing existing software that the customer may be paying for could reduce the monthly cost as well.
